Sellers must be a working farm, agricultural business, or ag-adjacent supplier in Canada or the United States — row crop and livestock operations, market gardens, orchards, greenhouses, specialty producers, agronomy services, custom operators, vets, ag-mechanical shops, and verified suppliers selling into the ag market. Buyers include other farms, ag businesses, restaurants, retailers, and everyday consumers — anyone looking to buy from verified farms and ag businesses. Sellers choose their own minimum order quantities, so listings range from full pallets and equipment down to a dozen eggs.
I'm a service provider — can I list on Farm-2?+
Yes — services are first-class on Farm-2. Truckers, custom operators, brokers, vets, drone operators, welders, well drillers, fence installers, agronomists, mobile mechanics, and any other ag-adjacent service can list. You set your service area (radius around your base or specific regions), your rates (hourly, per-acre, per-mile, per-job — whichever fits), and the equipment or vehicles you operate. When buyers post a job inside your zone, you get matched automatically. Truckers in particular can stack service areas to catch backhaul loads on the way home and return loads on the way out — kill the deadhead with one listing.
Is it really free to join?+
Yes. Signing up, browsing, listing items, and messaging other members is free. Sellers see Farm-2's full fee structure during account setup — before posting their first listing — so there are no surprises at payout.
How does verification work?+
Our team confirms you operate an eligible North American farm — typically within 1–2 business days. Sellers connect a Stripe payout account before their first listing goes live. Verification is what makes the network trustworthy and pricing predictable.
How does the rating system work?+
After every completed transaction, the parties on the order rate each other (1–5 stars + written review) — buyer rates seller, seller rates buyer, and any service providers on the order (trucker, broker, custom operator) get rated too. Ratings appear publicly on every profile so the best farmers and service providers build reputation and the few bad actors get filtered out quickly. You can only rate someone you've actually transacted with.
How are payments handled?+
All payments run securely through Stripe Connect. The buyer's funds are captured when the seller confirms the order, then held under Farm-2 protection. The seller is paid the moment the carrier shows up with a 4-digit pickup code and the seller verifies it. The carrier is paid the moment the buyer hands them a 4-digit delivery code on arrival and the carrier verifies it. Two stages, two checkpoints, no chasing invoices.
What if something goes wrong?+
If anything goes sideways at either handoff — late receiver, missing code, damaged load — Farm-2 has the funds and steps in. A quick call with photos and we release at our discretion. That's the whole reason we capture payment the moment an order is confirmed: so there's something to work with when an exception comes up. Persistent bad actors lose verification status.
Do I need a separate buyer and seller account?+
No. Every Farm-2 member has one account. You can browse and buy from day one, and post your own listings from the same profile whenever you're ready.
Can I set bulk or volume pricing?+
Yes. Every listing supports multiple price tiers: per-unit, volume discounts, pallet or case pricing, and seasonal contract rates. Buyers see all tiers upfront and checkout calculates automatically.
Can I use Farm-2 across the border?+
Yes. Farm-2 is a single continental network covering Canada and the United States. Cross-border deals are supported with automatic currency display and clear duty/tax disclosures at checkout. The platform also has licensed customs brokers in the network — buyers can attach a broker to any cross-border order to handle the paperwork (phytosanitary certs, customs declarations, import permits) for a quoted fee, or buyers and sellers can handle the paperwork themselves if they prefer.
